I agree with this so hard! It's like they didn't even try to come up with a good reason. There's no way that Zero would've turned down Jude's proposal after that summer special, and there's no way Lionel would have been so calm about it after she'd threatened to ram her car up his ass if he hurt Jude. (My personal opinion is that James LaRosa allowed his feelings about Adam choosing to not return and took them out on the character of Zero.)
I haven't watched the new season yet, just got bits and pieces from people who have, but I have a (really wild and cracky) fix-it idea that might require me to watch some of the eps to get the details right. o_O
